HANOVER, Ind. – The Franklin volleyball team played their final road match of the regular season on Tuesday (Oct. 29) night, taking on the Hanover Panthers in the annual battle for the victory ball.

Freshman setter Billie Jarrett recorded her third straight double-double with 16 assists and 10 digs on the night, but the Grizzlies (15-14, 3-5 HCAC) were plagued by a slow start as Hanover (16-10, 5-2 HCAC) took the match in straight sets; 25-8, 25-18, 25-17.

The Panthers potted the first four points of game one and never looked back, holding the Grizzlies to three kills in the opening set. The two teams were locked in a one-point battle for most of the second set with Hanover holding a 16-15 lead late. But the Panthers pulled away down the stretch, closing out the set with a 9-3 run to take a two-game lead.

Franklin took three of the first four points to open game three but the Panthers flipped momentum by taking 12 of the next 15 points. Franklin rallied to cut the deficit to four at 18-14, but the hosts closed out the sweep by ending the game on a 7-3 run.

Abby Sewell led the Grizzlies with six kills on the night while adding a solo block and a pair of block assists. Timber Falin had a team-high four block assists while Allison Thompson and Kylie Paul finished the night with 12 and 10 digs, respectively.

Franklin closes out the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 2) afternoon when they host Earlham College on Senior Day in Franklin. The first serve from the Spurlock Center is set for 3:00 p.m.
