LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Franklin volleyball team headed south on Wednesday (Oct. 23) night to take on Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) leader in No. 23 Transylvania University.

The opening set saw the two teams exchange ties and lead changes early on and mid-way through the set, Franklin rallied with a 4-1 run to get within a point at 15-14 and force a Pioneer timeout. The quick break proved to be the momentum-stopper the hosts needed as Transy rattled off a 4-1 run out of the timeout. Franklin got back within two points late, but four straight Pioneer points closed out the opening game win.
Transylvania jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the second game with a 7-1 run the catalyst for the lead. But Franklin clawed back with a 7-2 run to get within three before the Pioneers ended the game by taking eight of the final nine points. Franklin's bid to keep the game going ended thanks to a strong third game by the Pioneer attack as Transy hit .371 in the final set.
