LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Franklin volleyball team was among the record-breaking 1,126 teams to earn the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, when the list of team recipients was announced on Tuesday (Jul. 23) afternoon.
Now in its 27th year, the AVCA Team Academic Award is the single largest award offered by the number of schools, players and coaches recognized. Franklin was one of 175 Division III institutions to earn the annual honor, the fourth straight year the Grizzlies were recognized by the AVCA.
For a team to earn the award, teams had to have carried a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 for the 2018-19 academic year. This year's award winners bring the total number of team recipients to over 1,000 with exactly 9,586 AVCA Team Academic Awards handed out over the last quarter-century.
