CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Franklin College volleyball team wrapped up a three-game non-conference road trip on Thursday (Oct. 4) night, taking on the No. 7-ranked Thomas More Saints.
Franklin (7-11) struggled with the nationally-ranked Saints (17-1), dropping the contest in three sets. Abigail Sewell topped the Grizzlies with six kills, but it was a .380 hitting percentage on the night for Thomas More that paved the way to victory.
After dropping a 25-5 opening set, the Grizzlies put together their best offensive set of the night with a .119 hitting percentage in game two. But the Grizzlies couldn't slow the Saints down, dropping the second set 25-15 and game three 25-13.
Every Grizzly that stepped on the floor Thursday night finished with at least one dig. Libby Stahl topped the Grizzlies with 16 digs while Sewell added six digs to go with her six kills. Sewell, Jenna Spini, Maria Hasnerl and Timber Falin each recorded blocks on the night. Mackenzie Waldran's eight assists led all players and Kyra Harvey added a pair of service aces.
Franklin returns home on Saturday (Oct. 6), when they welcome Earlham and Kalamazoo College to town for a tri-match. The Grizzlies battle the Quakers in an HCAC contest at noon before taking on the Hornets at 4:00 p.m.
