Stahl, Sewell Named "Players to Watch" by HCAC Coaches as League Releases Pre-Season Poll

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Senior Libby Stahl and sophomore Abigail Sewell have been named "Players to Watch" by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) volleyball coaches when the list was released on Friday (Aug. 10) afternoon.

Stahl and Sewell are two of nine returners set to suit up for head coach Mary Johnnston in the 2018 season. Stahl is one of two seniors on this year's club, and enters her fourth year as the team's anchor on defense as the starting libero. Last year, the Indianapolis, Ind.-native led the Grizzlies with 512 digs, while ranking third in the conference with 5.75 digs per set.

Sewell played in all 25 games as a freshman, emerging as a top contributor for the Grizzlies on offense and as a presence at the net on defense. The Franklin-native finished fourth on the team with 137 kills and her .196 attacking percentage ranked second among all Grizzlies. Additionally, Sewell finished second on the team with 66 blocks, with 21 coming in solo fashion.

Franklin finished 11-14 in 2017 and picked up 25 points in the pre-season poll. Hanover was chosen by the league's coaches to repeat as regular season champions, collecting 91 points and three first place votes. The complete pre-season rankings can be found below.

The Grizzlies open the 2018 campaign in Whitewater, Wis. on Aug. 31 for day one of the UW-Whitewater invitational, where they will take on both UW-Whitewater and UW-Platteville.
