FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College volleyball team unveiled their 2018 schedule on Thursday (June 14) afternoon, with nine home matches highlighting the upcoming slate.
Head coach Mary Johnston's Grizzlies will serve it up at home for the first time in 2018 on Sept. 12, when they take on Spalding University inside the Spurlock Center. The next home match will take place six days later when the Grizzlies battle St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Franklin closes out their September home schedule with their first home conference match against Defiance on Sept. 25.
The Grizzlies play their first home matches of October on Saturday, Oct. 6 with a triangular against both HCAC for Earlham and Kalamazoo College. On Oct. 13, Franklin will host their final triangular of the year, taking on Anderson and Alma. Franklin closes out their home slate with back-to-back conference matches against Bluffton (Oct. 19) and Hanover (Oct. 24).
Additionally, the Grizzlies will play in a pair of invitationals this coming year. First up is the season-opening UW-Whitewater Tournament on Aug. 31-Sept. 1. Two weeks later, Franklin heads to Delaware, Ohio for matches against Otterbein, Trine and Ohio Wesleyan at the Ohio Wesleyan Bishop Invitational on Sept. 14-15.
Other non-conference games away from the Spurlock Center include meetings with Wilmington (Sept. 5), Berea (Sept. 8), Centre (Sept. 8), Baldwin Wallace (Sept. 22), DePauw (Sept. 26), Spalding (Oct. 2), and Thomas More (Oct. 4). In conference play, Franklin will travel to Manchester (Sept. 22), Rose-Hulman (Oct. 10), Transylvania (Oct. 17) and Mount St. Joseph (Oct. 27).
