JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Franklin College volleyball team opened up their final weekend tournament of the year on Friday afternoon, taking on both Lincoln Christian University and St. Mary's College (Ind.) on day one of the Illinois College Tournament.
The Grizzlies (6-4) used a balanced attack to upend Lincoln Christian (25-14, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18) in four sets to open the night. Franklin's brief winning streak ended at two, as the Grizzlies dropped the night cap to St. Mary's in straight sets (22-25, 18-25, 20-25).
Avery Sparks led the Grizzlies with 17 kills on the day, which included an 11-kill performance against Lincoln Christian in the opener. Gab Arthur added 10 kills and a career-high 24 digs for Franklin in game one while Amanda Lelivelt added eight kills on a team-high .280 hitting percentage in the win.
Nico Morris tossed up a total of 57 assists on the day, with 38 of those assists coming in game one. Arthur had a team-high 24 digs in game one on her way to 33 on the day. The rest of the defense was anchored by 37 digs from Libby Stahl and a team-high 10 blocks for Lelivelt.

Franklin will wrap up their final in-season tournament of the year on Saturday afternoon with two more games to close out the weekend. FC will take on host Illinois College at 11:00 a.m. before closing out the weekend against Robert Morris (Ill.) at 3:00 p.m. eastern time.
