Volleyball Picks Up Five-Set Win Against Olivet

Gambier, Ohio - The Franklin College volleyball team earned a dramatic five-set victory against Olivet College (23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 15-7) to begin play at the Kenyon Invitational on Friday.

The victory marked the second triumph for the Grizzlies against Olivet on the season. Franklin swept Olivet during the Raven Invitational on September 4.

Junior Brooke Harvey led the Grizzlies with 14 kills, while junior Amanda Lelivelt reached double figures with 10 kills. Sophomore Sydney Stuckwisch recorded nine kills in the victory. Freshman Kennedy Surface rounded out the team's balanced offensive with seven kills.

Franklin (7-4) posted a .235 hitting percentage during the deciding fifth set.

Senior Ashley Bazier helped distribute the offense with 19 assists. Freshman Nico Morris added 17 assists and registered 13 digs defensively.

Sophomore Libby Stahl led Franklin with 23 digs, while junior Lauren Harmon had 10 digs in the match. Harmon recorded seven serving aces as the Franklin held a 13-2 edge in aces.

Franklin lost in straight sets to Otterbein College during its second match on Friday. Stuckwisch led the Grizzlies with seven kills. Stahl recorded 17 digs, while Morris added 14 digs in the defensive effort.

Franklin concludes play at Kenyon Invitational on Saturday, September 17 with matches against Albion College and Kenyon, beginning at 11 a.m.
