Volleyball Splits First Day Matches at Quaker Classic

Richmond, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team split two matches to begin play in the Quaker Classic at Earlham College on Saturday, defeating the University of Concordia-Chicago 3-0.

The Grizzlies lost a 3-0 match to Muskingum University to conclude the day's action.

In the opener, Franklin (5-3) posted a .281 hitting percentage and had three players record seven or more kills. Junior Lauren Harmon led the effort with nine kills compared to two hitting errors. Junior Brooke Harvey and sophomore Sydney Stuckwisch each tallied seven kills in the match.

Senior Ashley Bazier and freshman Nico Morris each led the Grizzlies with 17 assists. Morris added two serving aces.

Defensively, sophomore Libby Stahl recorded a team-high 16 digs, while Harmon reached double figures with 14 digs.

Against Muskingum, freshman Jenna Spini registered a team-high six kills. Junior Amanda Lelivelt and Harvey each added five kills in the match.

Franklin concludes play at the Quaker Classic against Pikeville University on Sunday, September 11 at 10 a.m.
