Anderson, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team earned a pair of 3-0 triumphs on Friday to open action in the Raven Invitational at Anderson University. The Grizzlies recorded their first two victories of the 2016 season.
The Grizzlies defeated Waynesburg University by 25-10, 25-13, 25-13 set scores before picking up 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 victory against Kalamazoo College.
Franklin (2-1) relied on a strong hitting performance against Waynesburg, compiling a .321 team hitting percentage. Six players tallied five or more kills in the victory, led by junior Brooke Harvey with nine kills.
Sophomore Libby Stahl had a team-high six serving aces and also led the Grizzlies with 17 digs defensively.
In the Kalamazoo match, Harvey led Franklin with 10 kills while committing just one hitting error. Lelivelt registered eight kills, while sophomore Gab Arthur had six kills in the victory.
Bazier and Morris each tallied 13 assists from the setting position during the straight-set victory. Stahl had a career-high 20 digs and was one of four players to reach double figures in the defensive category. Harmon chipped in 14 digs, while junior Sarah Labra recorded 10 digs.
Franklin resumes action in the Raven Invitational with two matches on Saturday, September 3. The Grizzlies face Olivet College at 10 a.m. before battling Albion College at noon.
