Volleyball to be No. 5 Seed in HCAC Tournament

Bluffton, Ohio - The Franklin College volleyball team will be the No. 5 seed in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) tournament after concluding the regular season with a 3-0 loss at Bluffton University on Sunday.

Franklin (16-14, 5-4 HCAC) will travel to No. 4 seed Transylvania University in a first-round matchup on Wednesday, November 4 in Lexington, Kentucky. The Grizzlies finished in a three-way tie for third place, but due to tiebreakers is the No. 5 seed.

Junior Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) distributed a balanced offensive attack with 32 assists.

Senior Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) recorded a team-high 11 kills. Sophomore Amanda Lelivelt (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Riverside Brookfield) added 10 kills.

Senior Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) and sophomore Brooke Harvey (Clinton, Ind./South Vermillion) each had six kills.

Senior Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) led the defensive effort with 12 digs.

Franklin clinched a spot in the six-team HCAC tournament with a 3-2 victory at Defiance College on Saturday.
