Volleyball Hosting Rose-Hulman for Wednesday’s ‘Dig Pink’ Match

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team seeks to remain unbeaten in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play when it hosts Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology during the program's Dig Pink Night on Wednesday, October 7, at 7 p.m. from the Spurlock Center.

Dig Pink is the Side-Out Foundation's national program to draw public awareness and raise funds for breast cancer research, patient services, and public health education programs. October is breast cancer awareness month.

Franklin has won six straight victories to stand 12-9 on the season. Two of the team's latest victories came last Saturday, an HCAC win against Earlham College and a non-conference triumph against Albion College (Michigan) in Richmond, Indiana.

Sophomore Amanda Lelivelt (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Riverside Brookfield) leads the Grizzlies' balanced offensive attack, with 217 kills and a .300 hitting percentage. She ranks second on the team with 34 solo blocks.

Senior Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) follows closely behind with 215 kills and a .289 hitting percentage. She leads the team with 74 blocks, including 35 solo blocks.

Sophomore Brooke Harvey (Clinton, Ind./South Vermillion) has recorded 175 kills, while senior Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) rounds out the team's strong effort with 135 kills on the season.

Junior Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) helps distribute the offensive attack, with 766 assists and an average of more than nine assists per set. She also contributes to the defense, ranking second on the team with 306 digs.

Franklin has five players with more than 120 digs on the season, and is averaging 20.7 digs per set this fall. Senior Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) leads the HCAC with 510 digs and 6.1 digs per set. She ranks second on the team with 20 serving aces.

Senior Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) has tallied 255 digs, while also leading the team with 29 serving aces. Senior Hope Steel (New Palestine, Ind./Lutheran) and sophomore Sarah Labra (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) have each tallied 123 digs on the season.
