Volleyball Heads to Earlham for Pair of Saturday Matches

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team puts a four-match winning streak on the line when it plays two matches at Earlham College on Saturday, October 3, in Richmond, Indiana.

The Grizzlies will face the host Quakers at 1 p.m. in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup. Then, a non-conference match against Albion College (Michigan) is scheduled at 3 p.m.

Franklin's four consecutive victories have improved the team's record (10-9) above the .500 mark for the first time this season, following a four-set road win at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College on Tuesday. The team is 1-0 in league play after a four-set triumph over Manchester University at home last Saturday.

Senior Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) leads a balanced offensive attack with 195 kills and a .292 hitting percentage. She also is tops on the team with 68 blocks.

Sophomore Amanda Lelivelt (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Riverside Brookfield) has posted 191 kills and a .273 hitting percentage this fall. She also ranks second on the team with 53 blocks. Classmate Brooke Harvey (Clinton, Ind./South Vermillion) has recorded 156 kills.

Senior Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) tied a career high with 16 kills at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, increasing her season total to 121 kills this season.

Junior Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) is averaging nearly nine assists per set. She has recorded 681 assists on the season, and ranks second on the team with 279 digs defensively.

Senior Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) ranks second nationally with 468 digs and 6.2 digs per set. She also has recorded 17 serving aces on the season.

Senior Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) is tops on the team with 25 aces, and has posted 226 digs. Classmate Hope Steel (New Palestine, Ind./Lutheran) and sophomore Sarah Labra (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) have each tallied 116 digs this fall.
