Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team puts its three-match winning streak on the line when it travels to St. Mary-of-the-Woods College on Tuesday, September 29, at 7 p.m. from Terre Haute, Indiana.
The Grizzlies stand 9-9 on the season after a pair of four-set home triumphs on Saturday. The team defeated Manchester University in its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) opener. Then, Franklin beat Otterbein University in a non-conference match.
Senior Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) is the reigning HCAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Grizzlies to a perfect 3-0 record last week. She has received the league's weekly honor for the third time this season. Wieneke leads the HCAC with 448 digs and 6.3 digs per set.
Franklin has four players with 100 or more kills on the season. Senior Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) leads the team with 185 kills and a .298 hitting percentage. She leads the HCAC with 65 blocks.
Sophomore Amanda Lelivelt (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Riverside Brookfield) has posted 178 kills and 49 blocks. She is hitting .265 on the season. Classmate Brooke Harvey (Clinton, Ind./South Vermillion) ranks third on the team with 149 kills.
Senior Emily Young (Avon, Ind./Avon) rounds out the balanced offensive attack with 105 kills.
Junior Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) has recorded 633 assists on the season. She ranks second on the team with 266 digs.
Senior Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) leads the team with 23 serving aces. She has posted 209 digs on the season. Classmate Hope Steel (New Palestine, Ind./Lutheran) and sophomore Sarah Labra (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) have each recorded 100 or more digs.
