Volleyball Heads to the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament This Weekend

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's volleyball team concludes its non-conference tournament schedule with four matches at the Illinois Wesleyan University from September 18-19 in Bloomington, Illinois.

The Grizzlies will begin tournament play against Knox College on Friday at
6:30 p.m., followed a match with Illinois Wesleyan at 8:30 p.m. Then, Saturday's action will have the team battling Aurora University at 11 a.m., before playing Augustana College at 1 p.m.

The Grizzlies stand 4-7 this season and are coming off a three-set win over Wilmington College (Ohio) in the home opener on Tuesday.

Franklin ranks second nationally among NCAA Division III teams with 862 digs this season. The team also ranks 13th in the nation with 83 blocks.

Senior Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) leads the team with 115 kills for the season. She recorded eight kills and three solo blocks in the sweep over Wilmington. Settle stands seventh nationally with 39 blocks.

Sophomore Amanda Lelivelt (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Riverside Brookfield) led the team's hitting attack with 11 kills in Tuesday's home victory.

Junior setter Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) recorded 35 assists against Wilmington. Her 368 assists rank 21st nationally.

On the defensive side, senior Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) is the reigning Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. She ranks second nationally with 261 digs so far this season.

Franklin is back at home on Wednesday, September 23, at 7 p.m. when it hosts Spalding University from the Spurlock Center.
