Terre Haute, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball team lost a hard-fought five-set match to Ohio Wesleyan University (25-19, 19-25, 25-15, 18-25, 15-4) at the Rose-Hulman Invitational on Sunday.
Sophomore Amanda Lelivelt (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Riverside Brookfield) led the Grizzlies' offensive attack with 13 kills.
Senior Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) and sophomore Brooke Harvey (Clinton, Ind./South Vermillion) each added eight kills. Settle recorded 11 blocks, including seven solo block in the match.
Junior Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) distributed the team's balanced offensive attack with 31 assists. She ranked second on the team with a career-high 28 digs.
Senior Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) led Franklin with 39 digs defensively. Classmate Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) had a season-high 25 digs, and led the team with four serving aces.
Later in the day, Franklin lost a four-set match to Millikin University (Illinois) to conclude play in the two-day Rose-Hulman Invitational. The two teams split the first two sets by 25-18 scores. Millikin won the third and fourth sets by identical 25-17 scores.
Settle led Franklin with 10 kills, while Lelivelt added seven kills.
Wieneke recorded 24 digs and was one of three players to have 10 or more digs in the match. Freshman Carrigan Peak (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) tallied 14 digs.
Bazier had 29 assists and 16 digs to round out the strong performances against Millikin.
