ANDERSON, Ind. – The Franklin College track and field teams continued their indoor season on Saturday (Feb. 23), with a handful of student-athletes taking part in the Fred Wilt Invitational, hosted by Anderson University.
Both Franklin throwers highlighted the day's festivities, with seniors Laura Worthington and Nathan Adams putting together strong results in the weight throw. Worthington set a new personal record with a throw of 14.44 meters, the first time in her career she has cracked the 14-meter mark. Adams was his usual self in his specialty event, winning the weight throw with a toss of 17.28 meters.
One week after taking his second career conference championship in the 60-meter hurdles, senior Matt Stienke was back on the track Saturday. The Mooresville, Ind.-native took fourth place in the finals of the event, clocking in at 8.90 seconds.
Kelsey Bowling added a seventh-place finish in the high jump, setting a new season-best by clearing the 1.35-meter mark. Bowling would also set a new PR in the 800-meter run, breaking the tape in 2:45.62 to finish 13th overall. Lamonte Richardson took part in the long jump, finishing in 11th place with a 5.50-meter leap.
The Grizzlies will head to Ada, Ohio next Saturday (Feb. 2) for their final event of the spring, taking part in the NCAA Final Qualifier. Start time is set for 11:00 a.m.
