Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's swimming and diving team improved to 5-0 in dual meets with a pair of home victories against Centre College and Anderson University on Saturday. The Grizzlies won all four dual meets during the busy weekend.
Franklin picked up a 153.5-142.5 victory against Centre in a matchup of two top-25 teams in the CollegeSwimming.com poll. The Grizzlies earned a 240-39 triumph against Anderson on Saturday.
The team swept two dual meets at Millikin University on Friday.
Freshman Cady Mehringer broke the school record in the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.58). She also touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.15) and placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.97).
Junior Kaitlin Mans was a multiple-event winner in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke races. She won the longer event in 2:15.62, while winning the 1000-yard breaststroke in 1:09.63.
Junior Amy McCormick earned victories in the distance freestyle events, winning the 500-yard freestyle 5:19.01 and 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:53.46. Classmate Karlee Demsey rounded out Saturday's multiple-event winners. Demsey recorded a two-second triumph in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.99), while touching the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.35). Demsey placed second in the 100-yard freestyle (55.96 seconds).
In Friday's meet against Millikin and Lincoln College, the Grizzlies took the top two spots in both relays. Mehringer took top honors in the 100-yard butterfly. Mans added an event victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, while placing second in the 200-yard individual medley. Dwyer earned an event victory in the 100-yard backstroke.
Franklin returns to action on Friday, November 11 at 6 p.m. when it hosts Transylvania University from Franklin Community Middle School.
