Women’s Swimming and Diving Loses First Dual Meet of Season

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's swimming and diving team lost its first dual meet of the season to No. 12-ranked DePauw University 144-90 on Friday.

Freshman Bri Gunning (Whiteland, Ind./Whiteland Community) took top honors in the 3-meter diving competition, tallying 149.70 points based on the judge's scores. She placed second in the 1-meter diving event with 170.47 points.

Sophomore Amy McCormick (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) recorded a dominating 16-second triumph in the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.44). She had a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.23).

Junior Regina Solik (Clayton, Ind./Cascade) rounded out the team's winner in the 50-yard freestyle (25.06 seconds).

Freshman Mackenzie Dwyer (Longmont, Colo./Skyline) had a runner-up performance in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:11.58). Sophomore Kaitlin Mans (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.07) to round out the team's strong efforts.

Franklin returns to action on Saturday, January 23, at 1 p.m. when it hosts the Heartland Conference Invitational from Franklin Community High School.
