Swimming and Diving Set to Host DePauw on Friday Evening

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams resume its dual meet schedule when they host DePauw University on Friday, January 15, at 6:30 p.m. from Franklin Community High School.

Both teams stand 9-0 in the dual meets and are coming off first place finishes at the Colonel Classic at Centre College last weekend.

In the Colonel Classic, the women's swimming and diving team won all five relay races and added four individual event triumphs. Sophomore Kaitlin Mans (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.11). Classmate Karlee Demsey (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) has led the Grizzlies in the backstroke events, earning a victory in the 100-yard backstroke at Centre. Sophomore Amy McCormick (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) anchors the distance races and is coming off a win in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:49.94).

Meanwhile, on the men's team, junior Artur Schneider (Zurich, Switzerland) won three individual events last weekend. Junior Nick Allen (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) edged freshman Rob Warren (Bowling Green, Ky./Bowling Green) for top honors in the 500-yard freestyle at the Colonel Classic. The winning 800-yard freestyle relay team of senior Alex Bariyev (Ukraine), freshman Michael Gossett (Bloomington, Ind./Edgewood), Warren, and Allen touched the wall first in (7:20.22).
