Swimming and Diving Teams Head to Transylvania Invitational This Weekend

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams open its invitational schedule when it competes in the Transylvania Invitational from December 5-6 at 10 a.m. in Lexington, Kentucky.

Both teams stand 9-0 in the dual meets, including a pair of road wins over Principia College and Lindenwood University-Belleville on November 21.

This weekend's invitational is the first of three meets the Grizzlies will compete this winter. The team will also participate in the Colonel Classic at Centre College from January 8-9 and the Liberal Arts Championships from February 10-13.

In the Principia triangular meet, the women's swimming and diving team was led by multiple event winners from sophomores Karlee Demsey (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville), Amy McCormick (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central), and Kaitlin Mans (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) and freshman diver Bri Gunning (Whiteland, Ind./Whiteland Community).

The women's team won 12 events in its most recent meet.

Meanwhile, the men's team recorded 11 event victories against Principia and Lindenwood-Belleville. Juniors Artur Schneider (Zurich, Switzerland) and Nick Allen (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) won two swimming races. Freshman diver Will Combs (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) won both diving competitions.
