Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's swimming and diving team improved to 7-0 on the season by defeating Coe College (Iowa) and Millikin University (Illinois) on Saturday.
The Grizzlies picked up a 144-81 victory over Coe and a 179-39 win against Millikin. The team defeated Transylvania University in a road dual meet on Friday.
Franklin won seven events and had two members record season-best times in winning a race.
Sophomore Amy McCormick (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) had a pair of season-best performances in winning the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events. She won the shorter race (1:59.45), while touching the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle race (5:15.61).
Sophomore Kaitlin Mans (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) won the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time (2:32.67).
Freshman Mackenzie Dwyer (Longmont, Colo./Skyline) earned an event victory in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:42.04).
Junior Haley Blaich (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (26.27 seconds). Classmate Regina Solik (Clayton, Ind./Cascade) won the 100-yard freestyle (56.63 seconds).
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Karlee Demsey (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville), McCormick, Blaich, and Solik rounded out the event winners (1:43.03).
Franklin returns to action on Saturday, November 21, at 2 p.m. when it travels to Principia College (Illinois) for a triangular meet against Lindenwood-Belleville and Principia.
