Women's Swimming and Diving Records 13 Top-Three Finshes at DePauw

Greencastle, Ind. - The Franklin College women's swimming and diving team recorded 13 top-three finishes in losing a dual meet to No. 10-ranked DePauw University on Saturday. The Tigers picked up a 208-71 victory.

Freshman Kaitlin Mans (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) edged out senior Brenna Ghigliotto (Wakarusa, Ind./Northwood) for top honors in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.74). She also finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.52). Mans also swam a leg on the second-place 200-yard medley relay team (1:55.84). Other team members were junior Shelby Conrad (Crawfordsville, Ind./Crawfordsville), sophomore Haley Blaich (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian), and freshman Karlee Demsey (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville).

Freshman Amy McCormick (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:16.06). She followed with a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:26.93). Sophomore Lauren McCool (New Albany, Ind./New Albany) finished third in the race (11:31.20).

Individually, Demsey recorded a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.93). Blaich finished third in the 50-yard freestyle (25.93).

Franklin returns to action on Saturday, January 24, at 1 p.m. when it hosts the Heartland Conference Invitational at Franklin Community High School.
