INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Franklin junior goalkeeper Lexi Short earned her second career Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Defensive Player of the Week award.

The Avon, Ind.-native was brilliant in goal for the Grizzlies last week, turning aside 9-of-10 shots over a two-match stretch. After stopping three shots in a win over Manchester last Wednesday, Short notched her second clean sheet of the year with a six-save performance in the Grizzlies 3-0 win over Anderson on Saturday afternoon.

Short becomes the third different member of the women's soccer team to earn a conference player of the week award this year and the first to be named Defensive Player of the Week. Maddie Fleet and Jaylnn Gorman are the others, with both earning Offensive Player of the Week honors this season. The last time she collected the weekly conference honor was back on Oct. 9, 2017.

For the year, Short carries a 7-6-1 record with a 2.42 goals against average and a .724 save percentage while turning aside a career-high 89 shots and logging all but 15 minutes in goal for the Grizzlies this year.

Lexi and the Grizzlies return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 17) night when they take on Rose-Hulman at Faught Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
