FRANKLIN, Ind. – The awards keep pouring in for Franklin College junior forward Maddie Fleet. After being named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Offensive MVP earlier this week, the Indianapolis, Ind.-native was named Academic All-District® 7 by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier this week, Fleet collected her third consecutive HCAC Offensive MVP award after leading the Grizzlies and the league with 25 goals and six assists for 56 points on the year. It marked the third consecutive year Fleet has topped the 20-goal mark. She has scored in each of the Grizzlies' last nine matches, and was named HCAC Tournament MVP after leading Franklin to their first ever conference championship last weekend.
An accounting major, Fleet carries a 3.90 grade point average in the classroom. With her selection to the All-District team, Fleet is now on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ® ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in the coming weeks.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
