Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's soccer team earned the No. 2 seed in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) tournament with a 1-1 draw against Earlham College on Saturday from Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies were unbeaten in league play at 7-0-2 and will host Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in a semifinal match on Tuesday, November 4 at 7 p.m. Franklin finished the regular season unbeaten in its last 13 matches and an 11-2-4 record.
Freshman Jasmine Hunt (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) gave the hosts a 1-0 lead on her fourth goal of the season in the 26th minute. Freshman Masey Bunn (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) and junior Marci Black (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) set up the scoring chance.
The Grizzlies would maintain the lead until Earlham's Cherrah Barclay squared the match in the 84th minute.
In the overtime period, Franklin attempted the only shot between the two teams.
Franklin held a 12-6 shot advantage for the match, highlighted by seven shots during the first half. Bunn led the effort with four shots. Sophomore Audra Lane (Washington, Ind./Washington) and freshman Abby Stayer (Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade Julienne Catholic) each attempted two shots.
Senior goalkeeper Christa Hendrickson (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) made two saves in goal. Prior to the match seven seniors were honored during Senior Day festivities.
