Women’s Soccer Maintains HCAC Lead with Shutout at Manchester

North Manchester, Ind. - Freshman Masey Bunn (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) scored two goals in leading the regionally ranked Franklin College women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Manchester University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Tuesday.

The Grizzlies, ranked No. 9 in the Great Lakes region in the NSCAA poll, extended its unbeaten streak to 12 matches in the victory. Franklin (11-2-3, 7-0-1) maintains its first place position in the HCAC with one match remaining.

Bunn scored her first goal of the match in the 37th minute after a long ball was played by senior Kayla Dragstrem (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg). She found the back of the net again in the 75th minute to give Franklin a 2-0 advantage. Bunn has now scored eight goals on the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli), the reigning HCAC Player of the Week, recorded her fifth shutout of the season. The Grizzlies allowed only one shot on goal in the match.

Dragstrem led Franklin's 11-shot attack with three shots. Freshmen Hannah McIntosh (Dousman, Wis./Kettle Moraine), Haley Lowe (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg), and Bunn each recorded two shots.

Franklin closes out the regular season on Saturday, November 1 at 1 p.m. when it hosts Earlham College on Senior Day. The program will honor the contributions of seven seniors prior to the match. Live statistics will be available at www.franklingrizzlies.com.
