Lexington, Ky. - The Franklin College women's soccer team scored twice in the final 20 minutes to pick up a 2-1 road Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victory over Transylvania University on Wednesday.
Freshman Masey Bunn (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) scored the game-winning goal with 1:37 left in regulation. It marked the second time this season she has scored the game winner with less than three minutes remaining in the match. She scored in the 88th minute against Wilmington College on August 30.
Franklin (6-2-2, 2-0 HCAC) extended its unbeaten streak to six matches.
The Grizzlies squared the contest at 1-1 in the 71st minute when freshman Clare Lenart (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) set up classmate Jasmine Hunt (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) for her second goal of the season.
Transylvania (2-10, 0-2 HCAC) got on the scoreboard in the 63rd minute on a goal by Alyssa Kruse.
The visitors controlled play, tallying nine of its 16 shots in the first half. Thirteen shots were on goal compared to Transylvania recording five shots on target.
In the first half, junior Amy Jordan (Greenwood, Ind./Irvington Prep Academy) hit the crossbar hit the crossbar in the ninth minute.
Bunn led the team's offensive attack with five shots, all on goal, and her fourth goal of the season. Freshman Haley Lowe (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) had three shots, while Lenart and Jordan each recorded two shots.
Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) made four saves in tallying her third win.
