Women’s Soccer Earns Draw at Webster

St. Louis, Mo. - For the second day in a row the Franklin College women's soccer team battled for 110 minutes to a 1-1 draw in St. Louis, Missouri. The Grizzlies battled Webster University (Mo.) on Sunday afternoon.

The Grizzlies (2-2-2) had a 1-1 draw against Fontbonne University on Saturday.

Franklin withstood a furious rally from Webster, who held a 32-5 shot advantage in the match.

Webster (2-3-3) got on the scoreboard in the 22nd minute on a goal from Allison Ferguson.

The visitors quickly had an answer as junior Amy Jordan (Greenwood, Ind./Irvington Prep Academy) scored her first goal of the season in the 23rd minute. The scoring chance was set up by freshman Clare Lenart (Seymour, Ind./Seymour).

Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) made eight saves to earn her second draw of the season. She had five saves in the second half and made two additional saves in the second 10-minute overtime period.

Nine of Webster's total shots were on goal.

Franklin freshman Haley Lowe (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) led the team with two shots. Senior Kayla Dragstrem (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg), Lenart, and Jordan each had one shot in the match.

Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, September 24 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Spalding University from Faught Stadium. Live statistics of the match will be available HERE.
