Women’s Soccer Battles to 1-1 Draw at Fontbonne

St. Louis, Mo. - The Franklin College women's soccer team scored a second-half goal in a 1-1 double overtime draw at Fontbonne University on Saturday. Senior Danielle Owens (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) found the back of the net in 51st minute to square the match.

Franklin (2-2-1) recorded seven of its 12 shots during the second half.

Fontbonne (5-1-1) got on the scoreboard in the 19th minute on a goal from Kayla Thorpe.

Franklin freshman Jessica Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) made four saves in her first collegiate start in goal. She did not have to make a save in the two 10-minute overtime periods.

The visitors tallied two shots – both on goal – in the first overtime period.

Freshman Haley Lowe (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) attempted a match-high four shots. Classmate Jasmine Hunt (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) had three shots. Owens added two shots in the match.

Franklin returns to action on Sunday, September 21 at 1 p.m. when it plays at Webster University (Mo.).
