CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Franklin College women's lacrosse team closed out their season schedule on Wednesday (Apr. 24) night with a meeting against the Mount St. Joseph Lions.

The Grizzlies (1-1-8, 1-5 HCLC) fell behind the Lions (4-9, 3-2 HCLC) early after the hosts scored the first eight goals of the contest. Five different Franklin players would find the back of the net in the game, but the Lions would take the win, 26-6.

Franklin got on the board with 13:31 to go in the opening half on the first goal of the night from Abbey Voss. Brooke Hughes got on the scoresheet just a few minutes later with her team-leading 16th goal of the year in her final career game and Voss added her second of the half with 9:13 showing on the clock. But the rest of the first half belonged to the Mount, with the Lions taking a 15-3 lead into the break.

Junior Sam Collier added a goal to the Grizzlies' total early in the second half, but a long scoring drought would follow soon after for Franklin. Haley Ash scored with eight minutes to go and Kara Hawkins netted her first career goal with less than five minutes to go to cap the scoring for Franklin.

Voss led the Franklin offense with four shot attempts while recording six draw controls. Hughes and Shelbi Hunter had two shots each and Madeleine Correll led the Grizzlies with a pair of ground balls. In goal, Courtney Jones turned aside 19 Lion shots on the night, the second time this year she stopped that many opponent attempts.
