NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Franklin College women's lacrosse team opened a three-game road swing on Thursday (Mar. 21) night, heading north for a meeting with the Belles of St. Mary's College (Ind.).

Playing for the first time in 19 days, the Grizzlies (0-2) fell behind early and couldn't climb back from the early deficit as the Belles (3-3) closed out the game with a 26-0 victory.

It was all St. Mary's from the opening draw, as the Belles found the net five times in the opening three minutes, forcing an early Grizzly timeout. Franklin wasn't able to overcome the Belles' potent offense the rest of the night, as the lead hit double figures less than 10 minutes in.

Courtney Jones made nine saves in goal for the Grizzlies and led the team with three ground balls scooped up. Brooke Hughes and Kara Hawkins would also snag a pair of ground balls while Hughes led Franklin with a pair of draw controls.

Franklin heads east to continue their road swing during spring break week. The Grizzlies will meet Sweet Briar College on Sunday (Mar. 24) afternoon, with the opening draw set for 1:00 p.m.
