Grizzlies Picked to Finish Fourth in HCLC Women's Lacrosse Pre-Season Ranking

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) released its women's lacrosse pre-season coaches' poll on Tuesday (Feb. 12) afternoon.

Now in his second year at the helm of the program, head coach Chris Wilham and the Grizzlies were picked to finish fourth out of seven teams in the league, garnering 49 points to finish a single tick back of Mount St. Joseph in the rankings.

The Grizzlies bring back 10 letter-winners from their 2018 squad with seven newcomers set to join the fracas this spring. Senior attacker Brooke Hughes and sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Jones were chosen by the league as "Players to Watch" for the upcoming 2019 campaign.

The HCAC is sponsoring lacrosse for the first time this spring, with seven teams joining the league after migrating over from the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC). The winner of the year-end conference tournament will earn the league's automatic berth into the 2019 NCAA Division III women's lacrosse championship tournament.

Franklin gets the 2019 season started on Saturday, Mar. 3, when they host Alma College. The opening draw from Faught Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m.
