FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College women's lacrosse team returned to action at home on Saturday afternoon, taking on Washington & Jefferson College on a chilly day at Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies (2-4, 2-3 ORLC) threw everything they had at the Presidents (6-2, 3-0 ORLC) in the early going but were unable to find the back of the net. The FC offense was stymied all afternoon long as W&J left town with a 15-0 win.
Down by a goal less than a minute in, the Franklin offense spent the bulk of the next four minutes in the &J zone, but were unable to generate a goal as all three shot attempts were either turned aside or just missed the net. Not getting a goal proved to be costly as the Presidents would fight off the early rush to take control of the rest of the game.
Shots were 22-12 in favor of the visitors. Jess Silva finished with a team-high eight shots and three shots on goal for the Grizzlies. In goal, Courtney Jones (2-2) turned aside seven W&J shots and finished with three ground balls.
Morgan McIntosh finished with three shot attempts, two shots on goal, two ground balls and a pair of draw controls. Haley Lowe led all Grizzlies with five ground ball pickups and two caused turnovers.
Franklin will be back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 11) night, welcoming Mount St. Joseph to Faught Stadium for a conference showdown. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
