CARMEL, Ind. – The Franklin women's golf team stepped onto the course for their first competition of the spring on Tuesday (Apr. 9), taking part in the Big Four Classic at Crooked Stick Golf Course.
The Grizzlies placed third in the one-day event, recording a team score of 382. Topping the leaderboard for the Grizzlies was senior Keely Townsend, who came in 12th overall with a 91. Right on her heels was sophomore Megg Hensler, whose 94 earned her a 15th-place finish.
In her first career event in the blue and gold, Maci French placed 16th overall with a 95, just a few shots in front of senior Hannah Sharkey who shared 19th place with a 102. Jaley Schlosser rounded out the Franklin scoreboard with a 103, placing 21st overall.
Butler University claimed victory in the event with a team score of 309. The Bulldogs' Lauren Tibbets earned medalist honors with a one-over 73.
The spring season continues for the Franklin women this weekend, when they travel to Normal, Ill. and Ironwood Golf Course for the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 13-14.
