Grizzlies Top Mount St. Joseph on the Road

CINNCINATTI, OH. (February 11, 2017) – Franklin College women's basketball defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Mount St. Joseph University 68-43 Saturday afternoon. 

Franklin featured a balanced scoring attack. Leading the way for the Grizzlies was freshman Taylor Baxter who finished the day with 13 points. Emily Alfrey, Sarah Taylor, Kelsey Smith, and Mallory Cast all contributed 7 points for Franklin's offense. Smith also recorded 5 rebounds.

The Grizzlies were big on the boards Saturday outrebounding the Lions 37-25. Defensive pressure gave Franklin the edge forcing Mount St. Joseph into 17 turnovers and holding the Lions to a 29.8 shooting percentage as a team.

Lainee Studer led the way offensively for the Lions finishing with a game-high 14 points and 6 rebounds. Taylor Brown followed just behind with 13 points for Mount St. Joseph. 

The Grizzlies will be back on the road again next Wednesday night as they face Transylvania at 7:30 pm.
