Women's Basketball Travels to Mount St. Joseph on Saturday

FRANKLIN, Ind. (February 10, 2017) – The Franklin College women's basketball team will play at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday afternoon.

Part of a men's/women's doubleheader, the women's game tips off at approximately 4 p.m., following the 2 p.m. men's game. 

Tied with Defiance for fourth place in the HCAC standings, the Grizzles are 11-10 overall and 9-6 in the conference. They are coming off Wednesday's 70-63 overtime home win against Hanover and a looking for a season-sweep of Mount St. Joseph.

Franklin defeated the Lions 64-52 on Jan. 7 in Spurlock Center. 

Senior guard Lauren DeSutter leads a balanced Franklin offense. She averages 8.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. Senior forward Sarah Taylor averages 7.2 ppg and 3.5 rpg. Senior forward Emily Alfrey averages 6.9 ppg and leads the team in rebounding at 4.4 rpg.

In addition, senior guard Mandy Fisher averages 6.7 ppg and 3.2 rpg, and junior guard Riley Achenbach averages 5.0 ppg and 2.6 rpg for the Grizzlies. 

Mount St. Joseph is 2-20 overall and 1-14 in the HCAC. Sophomore Ciera Phillips is the Lions' top scorer at 13.3 ppg.
