NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. (January 25, 2017) – Franklin College women's basketball defeated Manchester University 66-62 in their first of two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road games this week.

Coming off two tough conference losses, Franklin was able to bounce back Wednesday night. The Grizzlies came into the game tied with the Spartans for sixth place in HCAC standings. The win gave Franklin a 6-5 record in conference play, moving them up to fifth place while Manchester stayed in sixth.

Franklin featured an efficient offensive front led by senior Lauren DeSutter who finished with 21 points converting 8-13 from the field. Kayle Comer also recorded double figures for the Grizzlies with 11 points shooting 50% from the field. Franklin's bench proved to be an offensive threat scoring 47 of their 66 total points compared to just 11 from the bench for the Spartans.

Manchester was led by Jenifer Lee with 21 points, also adding three field goals from behind the arc. As a team, the Spartans shot 43.8% from the field but were forced into 21 turnovers from a tenacious Franklin defense.
