Women’s Basketball Team Travels to Manchester on Wednesday

FRANKLIN, Ind. (Jan. 24, 2017) – The Franklin College women's basketball team will travel to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Manchester University on Wednesday night.

Franklin is looking for its second win of the season against the Spartans. The Grizzlies defeated Manchester 59-41 on Jan. 4 in Spurlock Center.

Senior guard Lauren DeSutter leads a balanced Franklin offense with an 8.0 points per game scoring average. She also averages a team-leading 2.0 steals per game.

Senior forward Sarah Taylor averages 7.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Junior guard Riley Achenbach averages 5.1 ppg and 2.6 rpg, and senior forward Emily Alfrey averages 6.8 ppg leads the team in rebounding at 4.3 rpg. Senior guard Mandy Fisher averages 5.8 ppg.

Franklin is 7-9 overall and 5-5 in the HCAC.

Manchester is 7-9 overall and 5-5 in the HCAC. The Spartans are led by senior guard Jenifer Lee, sophomore guard Beth Schaefer and freshman guard Nicole Weaver. Lee averages 8.4 ppg and 3.8 rpg. Schaefer averages 6.9 ppg and 5.6 rpg, and Weaver averages 6.5 ppg.

Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. inside Manchester's Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
