Women’s Basketball Team hosts Bluffton on Saturday

FRANKLIN, Ind. (Jan. 20, 2017) – The Franklin College women's basketball team will host Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Bluffton at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Franklin is 7-8 overall and 5-4 in the HCAC. The Grizzlies are looking to avenge a 65-51 loss at Bluffton on Jan. 9.

Senior guard Lauren DeSutter leads a balanced Franklin attack with a per game scoring average of 8.2 points. Senior forward Sarah Taylor averages 7.7 ppg and 3.1 rebounds per game, and junior guard Riley Achenbach averages 5.3 ppg and a team-high 2.1 assists per game.

Senior forward Emily Alfrey averages 5.9 ppg and leads the team in rebounding at 4.4 rpg.

Bluffton is 13-3 overall and 7-2 in the HCAC. The Beavers are tied for second in the HCAC standings.

Bluffton is led by junior Macey Sheerer, who averages 15.1 ppg and 6.4 rpg. Senior Rachel Beining averages 13.3 ppg and 7.4 rpg, and junior Kaycee Rowe averages 12.1 ppg.

The women's game follows the men's game, which tips off at 2 p.m. in Spurlock Center.
