Franklin, Ind- The Franklin College Women's Basketball team defeated Olivet College by a final score of 87-29 Sunday afternoon at the Spurlock Center.
Franklin was led by Sarah Taylor (Fishers, Ind./Fishers), who finished with 13 points and added 4 assists. Senior forward Emily Alfrey (Fairland, Ind./Triton Central) and junior guard Riley Achenbach (Shelbyville, Ind./Shelbyville) also tallied double digits, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. Senior guard Lauren DeSutter (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri-West) added 8 points and 4 assists in the victory.
In their most balanced offensive effort of the season, all 16 Grizzlies who participated in the contest scored. The Franklin defense was stifling, holding the Comets to 16% shooting for the afternoon, including 1 for 23 from the three point arc. The Griz also out-rebounded Olivet 42-27.
Franklin improves to 2-3 on the season while Olivet drops to 0-4. The Lady Griz are in action again on Saturday December 3rd, when they begin their conference schedule on the road against Defiance.
