Holland, MI - Franklin College traveled to Hope College for a double header weekend where they earned their first win of the 2016-17 season defeating Carroll University Friday night 74-47.
The Grizzlies found their rhythm again after bouncing back from a loss to Elmhurst College Tuesday night. Franklin came out strong with 9 point lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. They would go on to lead the rest of the game and finish with a win making them 1-1 on the year.
Leading the way for the Grizzlies was senior Emily Alfrey who went 6-7 from the field finishing with 16 points. Amber May also contributed 12 points and 5 rebounds for Franklin. The Grizzlies nearly doubled their offensive production from Tuesday to Friday shooting 45.6% from the field and scoring 74 total points.
Carroll University finished with two players in double figures on the night. Brittany Wald and Caylee Koker scored 15 and 11 points for the Pioneers. As a team, the Pioneers struggled offensively shooting 32.7% from the field and also giving up 36 turnovers to the Grizzlies.
Franklin College will play again tomorrow at 3:00pm inside the DeVos Fieldhouse against the winner of the 7:30pm game Friday night, Hope College vs. Finlandia University.
