INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A trio of Franklin student-athletes collected the final Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) swimming and diving athlete of the week awards when the conference made the announcement on Tuesday (Feb. 5) morning.

Junior Jack Heim earned his first career HCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week honors while sophomores Brynna Sentel and Lexi Blackburn swept the weekly accolades on the women's side.

Prospect, Ky.-native Heim had a strong showing in Franklin's final dual meet of the season last Friday (Feb. 1) at Illinois Wesleyan. Heim started off his night by swimming the second leg of Franklin's victorious 200 medley relay squad that rolled to a win in 1:40.21. Later on, he would add individual wins in both the 200 breaststroke (2:16.20) and the 200 IM (2:04.18) to help Franklin knock off the Titans, 183-91.

Heim becomes the third Grizzly to be named the league's male swimmer of the week, joining teammates James Hone and Noah Tallman.

Sentel collected HCAC women's swimmer of the week award after a dominant performance in Franklin's 173-114 win over Illinois Wesleyan on Friday night. The Sullivan, Ill.-native was victorious in all three individual races and swam the opening leg of Franklin's winning 200 medley relay squad that finished in 1:49.33. The sophomore would go on to add decisive wins in both the 1000 freestyle (10:41.79) and the 500 freestyle (5:13.59) before closing out her night with a dramatic win in the 200 IM (2:12.17).

It's the second weekly conference award for Sentel this year and the fourth time in her career she has been named the league's swimmer of the week. She is one of three Grizzlies to be named swimmer of the week this year, joining Courtnee Coffman and Jessica Halsmer.

Blackburn was honored as the league's best female diver for the eighth time this year following a pair of wins on the board against the Titans. The Clayton, Ind.-native opened up her night by winning on the one-meter board with 266.50 points and followed that up with a winning score of 256.50 on the three-meter board later in the night.

All three Grizzlies will be back in the pool on Feb. 14, when they travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for the opening day of the 2019 HCAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Day one action begins at 10:00 a.m.
