Savannah Blevins Named Conference Softball MVP

GREENWOOD, Ind. (May 10, 2017) Franklin College's Savannah Blevins has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player for Softball.

A senior first baseman, Blevins is one of six Grizzlies who received All-Conference recognition.

Blevins helped lead the Grizzlies to a 9-6 record in HCAC play and a runner-up finish in the conference tournament. She hit .440 in league play with a conference-best slugging percentage of .940. She also led the HCAC with seven home runs and 47 total bases and was second in RBIs with 19.

Blevins was joined on the All-HCAC First Team by senior outfielder Megan Lalioff. Sophomore outfielder Monica Collins and junior pitcher Olivia Paszek earned Second Team honors.

In addition, senior catcher Taylor Johnson earned Honorable Mention recognition, and senior third basemen Jessica Thom was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Franklin finished the season 26-17 overall. The Grizzlies lost 6-3 to Transylvania in the tournament championship game.
