Franklin Falls in Doubleheader to Defiance College

FRANKLIN, IN (April 23, 2017) – Franklin College softball was swept in Sunday's doubleheader on the road against Defiance College.

Despite gaining an early 3-0 lead in game one and totaling 11 hits as a team, Defiance rallied to defeat the Grizzlies 11-4. 

Savannah Blevins opened game one with a homerun to centerfield scoring teammate Monica Colli. Second baseman Baylea Lyons had three hits on four at bats for Franklin, while designated player Alexis Tarver posted two hits including a homerun. 

The Grizzlies added 11 more hits as a team in game two, but again couldn't withstand a tough Defiance squad who earned the 8-2 victory.

Franklin fell to 20-14 overall and 5-5 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Softball returns home Wednesday to face HCAC rival Hanover College starting at 3:30 pm.
