FRANKLIN, Ind. (April 19, 2017) – The Franklin College softball team split a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon against visiting Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Anderson University.
The Grizzlies won the first game 4-1 and dropped the second 6-5.
In Game 1, the Grizzlies got a huge lift from designated player Alexis Tarver, who went 2-for-2 at the plate, including a two-run home run and a two-run double. Centerfielder Monica Collins was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Pitcher Olivia Paszek scattered four hits and struck out three to pick up the win. She improved to 10-5.
In the second game, the Ravens scored four runs in the third inning and survived a three-run fifth inning by the Grizzlies to hang on for the win.
First baseman Monica Collins provided Franklin's offensive highlights, going 2-for-4, with a home run and a game-high four RBIs.
With the split, the Grizzlies are 20-12 overall and 5-3 in the HCAC.
Franklin returns to action Saturday for a doubleheader at league rival Mount St. Joseph. Game times are 1 and 3 p.m.
