Softball Team Splits With Transylvania

FRANKLIN, Ind. (April 12, 2017) – The Franklin College softball team split a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon against visiting Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Transylvania.

Behind a no-hitter by junior pitcher Olivia Paszek, the Grizzlies won the first game, 2-0. Transylvania edged Franklin in the second game, 1-0.

In Game 1, Paszek gave up no hits or walks and struck out one batter in seven flawless innings. The Grizzlies scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning for all the runs they would need in support of Paszek, who now has two career no-hitters.

First baseman Savannah Blevins scored a run and had Franklin's only RBI in the first game. Third baseman Jessica Thom, who was 1 for 2 at the plate, scored the Grizzlies' other run.

Franklin combined for five hits in the game.

In Game 2, Transylvania (19-8 overall, 5-1 HCAC) scored one run in the top of the fourth to pick up the win.

Franklin (17-9, 3-1 HCAC) returns to action Friday with a home doubleheader against Calvin College. Game times are 3 and 5 p.m.
