GREENCASTLE, Ind. (March 18, 2017) – The Franklin College softball team split a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at DePauw University.
Franklin won the first game, 6-4. DePauw took the second, 4-3.
In the first game, the Grizzlies rallied from a 3-0 deficit with four runs in the top of the sixth inning. They added two more in the top of the seventh to hang on for the victory.
Pitcher Olivia Paszek picked up the win and improved to 6-1. First baseman Savannah Blevins led the Grizzlies' offensive charge by going 2 of 4 at the plate with a game-high three RBIs. Designated player Alexis Tarver, left fielder Grace Paszek and shortstop Lauren Huebler each had an RBI for Franklin.
In the second game, DePauw broke a 3-3 tie by scoring the game-winning run in sixth inning.
For Franklin, Tarver had a home run and second baseman Shelby Mager had a double and two RBIs.
Franklin (9-5) returns to action Sunday with a doubleheader against visiting Capital University. Game 1 starts at 12:30 p.m., with Game 2 to follow.
