Softball Set for Busy Road Stretch During Spring Break

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College softball team plays 10 games during Spring Break, including eight road contests from March 28-31.

The Grizzlies begin the busy week with a doubleheader at Berea College on Monday, March 28, at 4:30 p.m. Then, the team travels to Hanover College on Tuesday, March 29, at 3:30 p.m. and Transylvania University on Wednesday, March 30, at 3:30 p.m. in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action. Franklin concludes the road stretch at Maryville College on Thursday, March 31, at 1 p.m.

The team hosts Berea on Saturday, April 2, at 1 p.m. to conclude the busy week of games.

Franklin stands 10-6 on the season and split a doubleheader against Mount St. Joseph University to begin HCAC play on Saturday.

Junior Megan Lalioff (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) leads the team's offensive attack with a .536 batting average and 19 runs scored. Sophomore Grace Paszek (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) is hitting at a .367 clip with six doubles and 11 runs batted in. Junior Savannah Blevins (Wilkinson, Ind./Eastern Hancock) has hit two home runs and is batting .348 this spring.

Senior Katie Struewing (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) leads the team with 17 runs batted in. Juniors Taylor Johnson (Beech Grove, Ind./Beech Grove) and Baylea Suiters (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) are both hitting over .300 on the season.

In the pitching circle, sophomore Olivia Paszek (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) stands 7-2 with a 1.66 earned run average (ERA). The left-handed pitcher has recorded 39 strikeouts on the season.

Senior Bri McClellan (Huntington, Ind./Huntington North) is 2-1 on the season with a 2.62 ERA in five starts. She has tossed two complete games in 2016.
