Franklin, Ind. - After opening the season with eight games in Florida, the Franklin College softball team has returned home for a scheduled doubleheader against Kalamazoo College on Sunday, March 6, at 1 p.m. from Behrens Field.
The team's originally scheduled games against Calvin College for Saturday have been postponed to a later date due to weather.
Franklin stands 4-4 on the season after concluding the southern trip with victories against Wartburg College (Iowa), 6-2, and Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio), 6-5.
Junior Megan Lalioff (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) has enjoyed a strong start, posting a .631 batting average (19-for-31), scoring seven runs, and driving home six more runs.
Junior Jeana Gregory (Mooresville, Ind./Mooresville) is hitting at a .500 clip, with one double and a home run. Freshman Lauren Huebler (Indianapolis, Idn./Roncalli) has driven in four runs and scored an additional three runs, while batting .462 on the season.
Junior Taylor Johnson (Beech Grove, Ind./Beech Grove) is also batting above .450 for the season.
Senior Katie Struewing (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) is the reigning Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Hitter of the Week. She leads the team with eight runs batted in and four doubles.
Franklin is batting .357 as a team and had 20 of its 85 hits go for extra bases.
Sophomore Olivia Paszek (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) is this week's HCAC Pitcher of the Week. The left hander is 4-1 with a 3.04 earned run average after five appearances in the circle. She has recorded 25 strikeouts in 26.2 innings.
Junior Bailey Lindamood (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) has appeared in two games and tossed one complete game this spring.
